"Octopodes" is the Greek plural (it's of Greek origin); we don't have -odes in Latin. (Oh, shoot, you lured me to comment with the language note, now I have to tell you that I've been lurking and you have some amazing stuff. I'm actually working on a chicktopus right now, so it was cool seeing your octopodes.)
